Why must the constants of life be overlooked? Adoration is
often given to those things that pop into your life for a little while. It’s
exciting when a new friend comes into a life, and the focus is often placed on
that person. Those new friends are a blessing, and thought is placed on those
people daily. Sometimes they only stay for a little while, but then you move
onto another fresh new person that comes into your life. The focus then becomes
on them.
But what
about the constants?
What about
those people who never leave, who were there since your beginning? Your
attention on them is most of the times lessened compared to others. They’re
always there. They come to all your important events. Of course, it’s not a
question that they’re there. They’re part of your foundation that you have
built upon as you grow up. You’re not surprised by their presence, and
therefore the constants are overlooked.
But is that
the way it should be?
People
can’t be in your life forever; we are only finite as humans. There comes a
point when a constant in your life has to be taken away. Unlike the people who
come and go and receive all the appreciation, these people have been there
since your beginning, but now no longer can be. Your constant is gone. Your
foundation has been shaken.
Tendencies like this are only natural for humans to have. The people closest to you are often overlooked and ignored. Instead the focus is placed on those temporary people that you just can’t stop hanging out with and talking about. Can we rewrite this? Can the constant people in life start to be the most appreciated? We need to start shifting our focus to these people and savor every moment with them. Because you may never know when they may be taken away, leaving your foundation shaken.
