Granada has blessed us these past 9 months. Even at its worst, with earthquakes, coronavirus, and extreme cold and heat, Granada has been a beautiful home to us. With fewer than 3 weeks left, Micah and I are starting to say goodbye, and savoring the beauty of this city while doing so. We are saying goodbye to the following:
- The heavenly temperature difference of moving from sun to shade
- Ordering a drink and getting a free tapa (or a sufficient meal)
- Kicking around oranges that lie on the street
- Eating cookies for breakfast
- Being able to get toast in the middle of the morning workday
- Getting lost in the twists of the AlbaĆcin
- Different colored buildings announcing their presence on the streets
- Finding ourselves in the relaxed, patient pace of the Granadinas
- Walking at dusk and catching the marvelous view of purple mountains when you don't expect it
- Three hours in the middle of the day that are completely ours
- Palm trees, pine trees, and color-changing trees all united together
- Accessibility of mountain, beach, and lake
- All the chewy candies you could ever want
- Seeing random, awe-inspiring glimpses of the Alhambra in different places in the city
- The absence of snow (besides in the mountains)
Granada, you are beautiful, and we love you. Goodbye soon.
PS Bonus points if you can correctly guess which bullet points Micah wrote and which ones I wrote.
